Odessa joins Pledge 1%, launches non-profit foundation

To build and sustain philanthropic leadership, the Odessa Foundation supports local and global education initiatives

November 1, 2018

Odessa, a leading provider of lease management software, announced today that it has joined Pledge 1%, a corporate philanthropy movement dedicated to making the community a key stakeholder in business. Comprised of over 4000 leading companies across 90 countries, included powerhouses like Salesforce and Atlassian, Pledge 1% empowers companies to donate 1% of product, equity, profit, and employee time to pressing issues around the world.

“We’ve taken the pledge to give 1% of our time, 1% of our profit and 1% of our product to charitable causes,” said Jay Mehra, COO, Odessa and Odessa Foundation Board Member. “As part of the 1% employee time, our teams donate their efforts and expertise doing plantation drives, food rescue, building housing, mentoring young people, and offering hundreds of helping hands for local community organizations.” Mehra emphasized that “What excites us most about this initiative is the global reach we will have. Our global offices will have the opportunity to contribute to their communities however they determine most effective.”

To manage this commitment to philanthropic leadership, Odessa has launched the Odessa Foundation – an independent nonprofit organization to centralize our corporate social responsibility initiatives. The foundation’s mission is to focus primarily on efforts related to supporting global education.

“The launch of the Odessa Foundation is a significant milestone in our development,” said Madhu Natarajan, CEO, Odessa and Odessa Foundation Board. “We believe that you cannot be a leader in your industry without being a leader in your community. The Odessa Foundation will provide our employees a unique opportunity to actively contribute to the improvement of the communities we operate in.”

Odessa is a Philadelphia-based company with a 20-year record of contributions to the community in the U.S. and India. Having worked with leading non-profits and NGO’s locally and globally, such as Philabundance, Habitat for Humanity, Say Trees, and Educait, joining Pledge 1% will strengthen Odessa’s philanthropic program. “We are demonstrating that involvement in our communities is, and always has been, at the forefront of our brand – and we are excited to join an impressive group of companies who are committed to doing their part to give back,” says Keelie Fitzgerald, VP Marketing, Odessa and Odessa Foundation Board.
